We are seeking full-time Junior and Mid-weight Games User Researchers to join our Brighton, UK-based team. We’re also seeking speculative applications for Senior Games User Researchers from the North America/Canada and Asia Pacific regions.

As a Junior or Mid-weight User Researcher at Player Research, you will be principally designing, planning and conducting playtests in our state-of-the-art facilities, as well as and conducting UX Reviews to evaluate pre-release video games alongside our team of Senior Researchers. You’ll be encouraged to grow your UX skill set, experience and independence, eventually making an aspect of the company your own.
Help in defining bespoke research plans to best answer client needs and questions, using a broad range of user research methods
Run complete user research and playtesting studies, including facilitation, behavioural analysis, presentation of results via digital report and in-person. You’ll become an expert in all aspects of the playtesting process
Learn and employ our range of user research methods including playtesting, usability studies, interviews, surveys, heuristic evaluations, discussion groups, developer co-design and ethnographic studies (check out some of the research methods Player Research uses)
Communicate directly with developers and work on-site with clients as a consultant
Help find ways for Player Research to do better in everything we do, contributing your unique skillset to the growth of Player Research and yourself
Either an academic background in Human Computer Interaction Design, Psychology, User Experience or related fields, or work experience to an equivalent level
A good understanding of research methodologies, interaction design best practices, HCI design principles
A boundless enthusiasm for playing and understanding video games, user research, UX and UX design. You should know, love and play a wide variety of video games, on all platforms
Adaptable and actively seeks to learn new things; always looking for new ideas and solutions
Strong interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal
The ability to work under pressure, and with short timescales
Legal right to work in the UK
Experience conducting user research for video games, with adults or children
Passions and new ideas to bring to the team
Knowledge of statistics, programming, graphic design, video/audio production, or any other relevant fields
